FURIOUS Barking residents are demanding swift action to rid their streets of prostitutes.
Barking MP Margaret Hodge is to meet with residents of Abbey Ward next week, who complain that the street workers' presence is still casting a shadow over their area despite good police work which has seen numbers drop in Fanshawe Avenue, Barking.
In a meeting at the junction of Park Avenue and Fanshawe Avenue, at 11.30am next Friday, residents will be able to voice their concerns over the problem that they face every night on their doorsteps.
Mrs Hodge said: "I am concerned about the number of prostitutes in the Fanshawe Avenue area. It appeared that some progress was being made but the problems still haven't been solved.

Barking MP Margaret Hodge... Does "Barking" here refer to a suburb or what?

Barking is the principal town in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. It is a suburban development with a large retail and commercial centre situated to the west of the borough and 9.1 miles (14.6 km) east north-east of Charing Cross. The manor of Barking was the site of Barking Abbey, a nunnery founded in 666 by Eorcenwald, bishop of London, destroyed by the Danes and reconstructed about a hundred years later in 970 by King Edgar.
nothin much else seems to have happened since.
