I weny under an ERP gantry without a card in the IU (I know, I know but first time in 7 years!). The IU kindly beeped/shrieked at me to let me know. Since then I have expected the letter but it's been nearly 3 weeks, how long does it usually take? If it was antwhere else I'd think the system had broken down somewhere and that I'd got away with it but here...am I supposed to chase it?

Having done this several times and always getting the letter within the week, I would guess that maybe you went through the ERP system outside peak hours, when it wasn't deducting. However it will still beep at you as a reminder that you don't have much cash left on your card...it usually starts doing this once you are under the $5 mark (in your case $0) and will beep after going through any ERP at any time.
If you are sure you should have been charged, perhaps you should contact them as the fine is small (around $10...haven't done it for a while!) but may be a lot more if they maintain you have been sent notice but haven't paid.

Thanks but yes, I'm sure I went through during operating hours. I do that journey most days at that time and went through another gantry less than a minute later (which has same evening hours) and watched it take the hastily inserted card money off. I've read up that it'd be $70 if I don't pay within 2 weeks of first letter, so that letter is imminent IF it's coming. I've decided to live dangerously! Actually it just feels so wet to put my hand up...but I've checked they've got my correct address etc...oh the suspense!

With 35 vans/trucks in our company, our drivers are always forgetting to top up. Normally the letter will come within a week giving you 14 days I believe, to pay the fine which will be the ERP charge plus a $10 administrative charge (FINE!) Thereafter you will be send a 2nd letter and the amount will be $70 and will give you some more time until a court date at which time the costs will escalate again. I think if it were me, I'd get it sorted as it will only get worse.
