Sunday 2nd March - RIVER VALLEY REVELATIONS 9.30-12.30
Meet 9.20am Chesed-El Synagogue - 2 Oxley Rise -
Entrance on corner Oxley Walk - next to guard house. $30
This is your chance to see the interior of the most beautiful Synagogue and hear all the history of early Jewish Community and see the beautiful TORAH - rarely opened to the public!
We will then walk passing Church of the Sacred Heart to visit the HINDU
Chettiar Temple - magnificent deitites, colourful Gopuram & Prayer Hall.
Perhaps you saw from the outside during Thaipusam..
After a stop for refreshments in River Valley - we will walk along Mohd Sultan Rd - visiting inside one of the amazing 40m long old Peranakan style terrace houses before visiting the Hong San See Temple built by the NanAn Hokkiens on the site chosen by Raffles for the first English College East of Suez - Institution Hill. Come hear Geraldene tell why he changed his mind!
Tour will end at Singapore River where there are many cafe's for lunch.

Geraldene will relate all the history of this old area before the various hills of Chinatown - Mt Palmer & Mt Wallich were bulldozed into the sea to reclaim Telok Ayer and Keppel Harbour.
We will visit Kramat Habib Noh and Foo Tak Chi Hakka Temple built on hallowed ground also occupied by Parsis, Armenians & Arabs.
Walking on to visit Seng Ong Beo Temple famous for its Ghost Weddings! Perhaps we will have chance to witness one..
After stop for refreshments we will visit famous Keng the JunkMan - ending in Tanjong Pagar Rd - good Hakka Lunch at
Food Alley if you have time to stay on..
