What race are these people???
Some of them look like white Europeans, some look like Indians (Milan Baros), some look like Mongolians (Rosicky)!!!
Rosicky shocked me - with his flat face, slitty eyes and high cheekbones he could pass for a Chinaman (in the western part of China).
The rest, Ufalusi, etc look a little 'mixed': black hair, small dark eyes, snubbed nose. Only Cech the keeper and Koller looked like full Europeans.
I'm really curious to know more about the Czech people.

Immigration and waves of human transmigration across the continents over the past 100 years have got to be the biggest stories that nobody's really respected.
Did you see the Brazilian-born player in the Japanese world cup team? Or the few blacks in the German squad (now that would have got old AH squirming in hell).

yeah, there are gypsies possibly from the middle east from hundreds of years ago who moved west like milan baros and even reyes of spain. so if they could move westwards, why couldn't the mongoloids from northeast and central asia?
the huns (mongols under genghis khan) did conquer europe at some point in history. that's food for thought.
anyway, why is this an issue in the first place?

The Huns were led by Attila. They attacked Europe in the 7th or 6th century long before Genghis Khan (13th century). They were different groups.
Besides the Huns, there were also Tartars and Turks. These were from Asia, Mongolia, Siberia, etc as well. In fact, the Tartars were related to today's Northern Chinese, and the Turks were related to the Koreans.
Just that, these people have been in Europe for so long, they have been mixed into the general population.

When I went to the Czech republic I don't recall having seen people who looked very different. As I remember they all looked central European.
These players who look different could simply have been recent imports, like the black Swiss player on the Swiss team yesterday evening. By the way, how many in the French team can really be said to be 'French', i.e. not only French by passport, but also French by more than 1 generation?

Well, Rosicky and Baros ARE native Czech names... so my guess is somewhere down the line here was a Great Khan somewhere. It is said that Genghis has descendents all over Europe and Asia, as he loved to dally with the native girls of the countries he conquered. More food for thought: www.kerchner.com/bga-proj.htm

The Czechs are Europeans - one of the Slavic nations dating back to 5th century. The race is Caucasian. The Czechs are the same ethnic origin as Poles, Russians, Slovaks... There is no connection to gypsies - they are separate race completely.
All the Czech boys are typical Czechs - I have no idea where the comparison of Rosicky and Chinese came from - I don't see anything in common. As many nations - there is a great variety of types from tall ones (Koller, Lokvenc) to short and agile (Rosicky, Baros) as well as good middle ground (Poborsky, Nedved, Cech).
It's a great team although without Koller and Baros the chances are somewhat diminished... I'll still be rooting for them!

Nedved and Rosicky both belong to the East Baltic race, a people sometimes classified as Turanic by anthropologists. I suspect Baros has Gypsy or South Mediterranean roots, as he does not look like a Nordic or East Baltic.
This East Baltic race has a separate origin than the Russian, as the (pure) Russians were originally from the Rus people, a Nordic Viking race. East Baltics have nominal Altaic-Ural influences, the Altaic race consisting of the Finnish Samoyeds and the Saami who are somewhat Mongoloid in looks.
The ethnic group 'Slav' came about due to a mixture between the Nordic Viking Rus and the East Baltics.
In addition to the native Finnish admixture in the modern Northeast European, there were also racial influences coming from the Avars, the Huns, the Mongols, the Tatars, the Turks, the Pechenegs, groups of Mongoloid invaders from Central Asia and Siberia.
Today in Eastern Europe, which includes Russia and Ukraine, there is a diverse range of looks: from Turanid which means with slight Mongoloid admixture, to Nordic who look similar to the Scandinavians and Northwestern Europeans. The foreign Mongoloid influence is very diluted nowadays with so many generations of intermarriage with the local Nordics, that they can all be considered 'Caucasian'.
The people of Eastern Europe must be commended because throughout history, they have been the ones who bore the brunt of invasions by barbarian steppe people from Central Asia. Without Eastern Europe as a buffer, you Western Europeans will all be having slanty eyes now.

The facial features of Nedved and Rosicky will not look out of place in Central Asia, while someone with Baros' looks will look completely at home in Albania, Spain or Morocco. Or even Turkey. I even know an Indian guy who looks like Baros!
Speaking of Turkey, the footballer Ilhan Mansiz will not look out of place in Asia.
