Watched a documentary on the story of how the German football team was rebuilt after WW2. Excellent watch, especially when they got to the 1966 World Cup and beyond.
The '74 finals between Holland and West Germany was superb. I remember watching it as a school kid but watching it last night made me appreciate the orange-shirted Dutch even more. Cruyff in particular... a rare breed that one. I admire the German discipline but they play boring football IMHO.
Can't wait for the World Cup to begin.

It would be cool if we could organise some sort of bet, like the ones people organise in offices.
Everybody says who s/he thinks is going to win. If you get it right you get one points, if you lose you get 0 points. At the end the points are tallied, and the winner is going to get something.
What does you think? Would it be too difficult to organise it on an internet site?

Football Fan, don't the players have to wear protective underwear? Is that video for real?

I reckon the Socceroos are a chance to go past Rd 1. Beyond that, all bets are off.

ugly match but hey, the socceroos didn't make it to the world cup by being all wussy against uruguay (great match that one!).
interesting to see two of the teams i support in the world cup playing against each other in the prelude.

Why can't they win a soccer game by playing soccer instead of rugby? I don't support violent teams. I hope they will get out on the first round.

Yes, like high school bullies sometimes get what they want. But I still hope they are going to be expelled with a big kick in the butt!

We shall see how the Socceroos play against Zico's Japan. Nobody knows much about both sides (Australia being more unknown than Japan, who are the Asian champs) since they are pretty much untested at the World Cup level.
But I think I'd rather the Socceroos face Japan than Korea.
All will be revealed tomorrow!
