Ok - so you need to upload it to the websomewhere, is that right? *doh!* You need to register first then you need an online image storage facility to store the image, e.g., ImageShack, PhotoBucket or your own website for that matter. Then you can paste the URL into the proper field on the profile page and also you must set the length & width in pixels in the proper fields (would help if the image was already at the size so there is no degradation of the image). Not sure about this site but most avatar's should be kept below 10 Kb in size to save on the site's preload bandwidth - time it takes to load the page into your browser window. hope this helps. sms

I know what you mean, sms. My adjunct to your comment about 'kiasuism' was said tongue-in-cheek. I certainly do not wish to antagonize members here. It is bad enough to get flakes from anonymous users who flood message boards with their snide and often cruel remarks. Oh well........

ignore them. there's little you can do about them. they think they're big in doing whatever they're doing but they're actually the lowest form of life, if you look at it.

I have read localaunt's posts and so far, I haven't found any fault in what she wrote. If everyone refrains from using 'labels' this would for sure, be one super duper forum! Futile wish, I guess.

So the solution to the trolls is to just ignore their comments. No need to explain or justify yourselves to them.
Once ignored, they'll behave or leave to find amusement elsewhere

localaunt, you should know that by identifying yourself as a local, you will be subjected to snide remarks from non-locals. There are expats who hate your countrymen and you are easily the most convenient target for them. Not forgetting you are a female too. Be careful with what you post.

i'd back that - not that i hate locals, but i can see why many expats do - had several nasty experiences myself. enough of that will colour anyones view of the world.

sweet old lady or localaunt,
I have absolutely nothing against either you or "locals" in general. My post to you was a bit tongue in cheek re the duck walk. But the taking up of whole pages with the word "bump" did aggravate me a little.
As most here are originally from the Angry Board, you know I've been around a long time and married to a "local" as well. Anyway gave you a bump up just now.
;D

You're not under or above the (Singapore) law, so you ARE responsible for everything that's written on this forum, even if you write in your T&C that you don't want to be responsible for it. Singapore law supercedes your forum-law.

proboards reside outside of Singapore. A board manager does not own the website, nor earn any income nor solicit any business. How can he then be liable for any comments made on it ? If we were all sitting in Fiji and said things about LKY on a website based in Guam, are we going to be sued in Singapore courts ? I think not. Just because an IP address might reside in Singapore doesn't mean the individual at that IP address is going to be persecuted here.
Big brother's fear factor seems to work well here.

Nonsense, are you saying the world wide web is wholly owned by the Singapore government? Gee... THAT is soooo awesome!

It doesn't matter where the server is located. The only thing that matters is whether there's an person or company in Singapore that can be sued about the content. In Singapore, both the poster and the owner can be sued for "bad" content on a site. The server can't be sued It would be good to allow for posts that are completely anonymous (without ip tracking) and to have an owner (either a person or a company) that resides outside of Singapore.

Don't panick, post.
