My wife and I are avid Italian food eaters, and my wife likes to go out eat spaghetti and such (I can do a bloody spaghetti plate at home, for a fraction of the price, but it's true that in restaurants she gets ideas on how to cook great spaghetti plates at home ). Anyway, what are the best Italian restaurants out there? And what are the worst?

Don't know the best, but Al Forno on East Coast Road is very popular, run by an authentic Italiano, and is very nice ambience. The seafood spaghetti dish is fab. Other dishes are a bit average but nice restaurant and atmosphere.

Don't really go out for Italian here but been to this one and it was good. There are several pasta options in the set lunch which is 22 dollars (or thereabouts) for 3 courses and coffee. Check out website. Implausable location from the road but good ambience and decor once there.

Authentic Italian makes it sound like he is not really Italian, but bloody good at trying to be one!!
What is the new Italian like on Sentosa?

Thank you very much. I heard of both of these, but never tried them out. We will now! Yes, are there Italian restaurants in Sentosa. I don't really like Chinese food, except in Hawker senters. Thanks

The one on Sentosa - is that the one by the guy who started up Garibaldi? My friends just went there last week - ambience is fantastic but the food was "ok". As the IS Mag guide says, the food's "hit and miss"

For a posh Itialian meal, that is admittedly pricey but worth the money, is Garibaldi's on Purvis Street. For a special occasion, the food really is amazing!

I forgot the name, but I like the one on Robertson Walk, on Unity street.

Buko Nero, if you can get a table that is.
I am a fan of the Da Paolo restaurants, and especially their Deli on Jalan Mera Saga. There you can buy their fabulous stuffed fresh pasta, yummy.
I wasn't all that impressed by La Forketta in Valley Point so don't go there.
Oso is indeed very good, but equally pricey!
Senso is also very nice, especially if you sit in the courtyard.
The one in Raffles City (don't remember it's name) wasn't all that great either.
I have never been to Michelangelo's therefore I can't say anything about them.

Went to El Gladiatore recently. Off Mahomet Sultan. Very nice, but small portions.

I like Al Forno on East Coast Rd too. I had a lovely chicken pasta in a white sauce there - very tasty.
We used to go to Pasta Fresca on the east coast occasionally. I think their food is actually OK, but they get a good slating whenever you mention them, and no doubt will once again here. Cheap and cheerful - fine if you are just after a bit of spaghetti and nothing too fancy.

Go for a wander along Jalan Mera Saga in HV: Michelangelo's, da paolo (the restaurant), da paolo (the pizza bar), sistina, etc - they're all great.

Agree, def. OSO on Tg pagar Road for food. They feature a lovely glas walled "charcuterie" where you go in select which cold antipasti you fancy - hams, cheese etc. Tried out Zambuca at Pan pac hotel last night. V. average, my porcini risotto huge but far too salty to finish. started with Foie gras, nothing to write home about...
oh yes, seated at the semi circular booth, the cushions v. soft and found myself getting a back ache towards the end.
