to maid or not to maid

At the moment, we don't have a maid, but thinking about getting one. I'm not sure whether I'm ready for the loss of privacy etc, though. Anyone who started off without a maid and got one later, what is your experience? Good move or do you regret it? Or anyone who started with a maid and decided to let them go, would you have a maid again?

yes we did by hiring a part time housekeeper.
she was recommended by friend.

It cost $10/hr with working hours of min 4hrs.
she finisnh off the houseworks in 3.5,but we
decided to give her full $40 as she did well.
