I am new to Singapore and need domestic help full time. I have no idea where to start and the other message board just deleted the topic. I know this message board allows company recommendations, so to hasten up the process can anyone tell me of a reputable agency (east coast area preferably) and any other little tips that may help.

sg manpower is located on the east coast - talk to a woman named jasmine - she seems ok so far as i've been dealing with her lately. she's professional and seems switched on.. all the best!

The International schools (except the Aussies) end the year about May. Call one of the schools and ask if they have a classified ad or bulletin board with any transfer maids. These experienced maids will have worked with children. They need to be transferred because the employer is moving from Singapore not because anyone is unhappy with their performance.

Also check out the Cold Storage notice boards near your home (I am assuming they have the same set up as they do at the branches out west).
Although we ended up getting a maid via recommendation, of all the agencies we looked at 121 was the one that impressed me. Recently 3 friends have hired maids through them and they are all working out well.
They are located on Orchard Rd somewhere but you could check with them if they handle the East Coast.

Also speak to Lily the owner at Nobel Maids in Far East shopping Cetnre (next to Hilton). We have just found a new helper through her again, she seems to be clued in on an employer's expectations, personality and needs. Also found her v. helpful in counselling/advising helper whenever there is a problem, anytime.

www.netmaid.com.sgthis site allows you to browse loads of resumes on line - much better than going to one agency.

p.s I tried 121 agency too after a recommendation and I found them to be a waste of time. Very few of the candidates they sent me for interview had the specific skills I had requested (experience with western cooking, and experience in looking after newborns). So I ended up wasting lots of time interviewing girls that shouldnt have been sent to me in the first place.
