Hi,
Is Tanjong Katong Primary School the only local school popular with caucasian kids?

I think Tanjong Katong is the most popular but there are alot of other local schools that do have caucasian kids. Not as many as Tanjong Katong though. I wanted my daughter to go there for Primary 1 next year but they were full. My daughter will be going to another local school and she is the only blonde girl in her year. She will be the first Australian at the school. The parent support group is run by an English guy with a couple of other expat parents (caucasian) helping out at the school. I know of another family (Australian) who sends his kids to another local school and is very happy with it. If you check the websites of the schools you can sometimes see the odd blonde child in their pictures.

She'll be going to East Coast Primary. This is not a top tier school but was one of the ones available for enrolment in Phase 3 for 2007. Tanjong Katong has 10 classes for Primary 1 next year and was very popular with the locals for Primary 1 enrolment thus being full by Phase 3. They have been named as one of the schools from 2006 that has progressed alot in their PSLE results. Bedok West was the other school the Australian guy was sending his kids to and was happy with. I don't know them but I heard this from a friend. Opera Estate Primary, there is a blonde girl in one of the photos. I was going past St Patrick's Sec school a few months back and saw a 'blonde' teenager playing hockey with his classmates. If you look you will see. It is just not as publicised as Tanjong Katong is. Although Tanjong Katong is known for having a lot of expats, my guess for the amount of caucasians still wouldn't be alot compared to the size of the school. When I was researching schools I went past them to see what the atmosphere was like and there was a class playing in the playground at Tanjong Katong. That class had one caucasian child in it. As the school is very large i.e probably 10 classes per year, the 'blonde' kids will probably be on their own anyway. I hope you found this helpful Dungetit.
