Can I ask why you are selling it? Thanks. It was a gift, but I don't really want to wear this perfume - mainly because I have three different fragrances that I wear on various occasions and those are the ones I like and stay with. I opened the gift wrapping ( ) but haven't wanted to open the package. I guess I could always see what it's like in the shop, but at the end of the day I don't want another bottle of perfume. Btw the ones I have and like are L'Air du Temps, Feu d'Issey and No. 4711 (the last one's a cologne for daily use).

Hey hibiscus, it's bad luck to sell gifts!
I think you can turn around that by giving the money to charity.
There you are! Hope this helps!

You know what? Everything is bad luck. Incuding giving gratuitous advice. In any case, the money *is* going to a charitable cause - welfare of stray cats. (That's if someone buys it, of course...)

Hibiscus, what a load of bullsh1t about selling gifts; you are doing nothing malicious and once given, it's yours to do what you like with. I will try the perfume out at Isetan this week and get back to you. I am not worried about bad luck, just making sure I like the fragrance.

Gawd Tigerbalm, if I could I would! I'm reduced to using their "Ice" version which is nowhere near as good... I've bought 4711 when it's available (erratic) in two places - Mustafa (the pharmacy section) and this chain shop of beauty products that used to be called Lee Wah but now is "beauty world" or something similar (not sure of the new name). They have outlets in most malls, two that I know about are at Toa Payoh near the MRT (the complex of local shops there) and at Shaw Plaza, Balestier Rd. Supply however is erratic like I said... haven't seen any for a while now. I so love it! Mustafa has lots of stock of 4711 "Ice" but that really is to be used when one is desperate. It's not bad, but is very "sharp" for a cologne. And doesn't smell as nice.

Clever to think of Mustafa - maybe one could ask their purchase department (orwhateverisitcalled) if they could stock the original 4711 as well? BTW. it does not cease to amaze me how much the stuff now cost (talking about Germany pre and post Euro) What I remember 4711 used to be a cheap drugstore cologne for grandmas. Anyway have you ever tried Hermes d'Orange Verte? A little similar to 4711, much more expensive, but when one is lucky sometimes available in good hotels as the hotel's bath range. Then I tip the maid well and get extra I know I am pathetic

Agree about the prices. The weird thing is that when these parallel importers sell 4711 here, it's cheaper than in Germany! I seem to remember they get it from the US. One that I like is Hermes' Hiris. And the other Hermes cologne (don't think it has a "name" of its own) that they stock on board some airlines - that's similar to 4711. Far too expensive to use daily though... <<sigh>>

That's the one - green bottle - something lie green oranges? So far I found it in few hotels and right - on Thai Airways. Checked in Hermes store - way to expensive! We do like the same stuff

4711 is what my grand mother used to use, when I was a kid. Now I'm old enough to be a grand father myself. If we felt car sick we used to be passed a 4711 laden hanky to sniff. I guess us chaps will be splashing on the Bay Rum again soon.
