Hello all,
I am moving to the US in a few months. Any recommendations on which movers to use? We plan to move to Connecticut.
May or may not buy some Indonesian furniture to take back. <ainly household stuff, clothes, electronics, books etc.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thx

Electronics - My stuff is mostly dual voltage 110/210 bought with this eventuality in mind. Good point though. thx.
I really dont have that much stuff. Wondering if it would be cheaper to sell it all and buy new stuff.
Do I have to pay taxes on used electronic items like DVD recorders and LCD computer monitors? Does anyone know where to look for this info?

We got several quotes before we decided on our movers. Generally, we preferred the big international firms, because they tend to have their people in the US, rather than subcontract. We found the packers in Sg are more thorough and more efficient than those in the states (plus you don't have to 'tip' for them to pay more attention to their job). Check things like door to door (apartment, not building), how long it takes, (sometimes, they wait for the container to fill up before they ship it), insurance, packing fragile things, packing wooden things so they don't warp, packing leather things so they don't go mouldy etc., tracking your shipment, if they help you unpack. Once you've talked to a couple of them, you'll find they highlight their strong points, and you can check how the other companies handle the same thing.

Has anyone stayed near New Haven, CT? Any recommendations on where to stay for a good elementary school? I have been told that Milford is good.
Any advice would be great. Thx.
