simply amazing the brazilians.
they were just walking around, stroking the ball around in the last 10 mins and still they managed to score one last goal and nearly two or three more too.
3-0 to brazil.

I was a bit disappointed by the result. I would have liked a few goals by the Ghanans. It was a nice team, specially in the first half. Very quick, nice passes.
I feel they were a bit nervous close to the goal, passing quite badly, and kicking from too far away. The Brazilian is a better team everything considered, and don't get nervous near the goal!
Will Brazil win?

Right from the start of the game, it was obvious the Ghana team were intimidated by the Brazilians - on the field and on the stands. It was after the first goal, the Ghana team realised they are playing for the World Cup! Man, how they played - definitely a better team but unfortunately no goals.
It would be an even more exciting World Cup if Ghana won.

spain vs france
who would've guessed they'd win 3-1? i didn't.
i was too quick to criticise but there's more to the old fogeys yet especially with zidane creating one goal and scoring another one himself in the last ten minutes.
credit given where credit is due.

Impressed by Brasil? I wasn't. What is this hype about this team? They play fairly well, but reading the stupid articles (can anynone tell these straits time journalist to stop writing such crap? They are NOT experts, they know nothing about football , they are third league newsmen good enough to write about that pathetic and ridiculous local league they have here...), it's like we have witnessed some kind of magic. They played against Ghana not exactly a strong team. Let's see what brasil will do now that they have to play serious teams...

calamityman sorry but one goal was absolutely off side, and the red card was harsh. Brasil not so impressive against a team we beat 2-0.

Well it is true that Italians like to dive and even consider diving an art. To Italians and lots of South American teams, diving is tactical move.
Wait till the Serie A corruption scandal blows wide open and they name names. Then you will see how corrupt and sneaky these Italians are. Oh, as if the Vatican is not proof enough.
If people don't like you, you only have yourself to blame.

I'm sticking my neck out here. The last 4 teams will be: Brazil, Germany, France and Argentina. Why? Brazil because they make the game look simple and can do so because they have players whose skills can turn a game on its head with a jink, a turn and a pass. Germany because their home crowd will lynch them if they don't deliver, and because they play a fast brand of attacking, marauding and precise football. France because they are peaking at the right time and the old dogs have a few things left to prove. Their style is also rather similar to Germany's. Argentina because they are a good team all round and fast, and can match it with the European style of football. Italy and England are good teams, but I don't get the sense they want it bad enough.

guest, you don't know what you are talking about. The vatican, proof of what you blasphemous idiot. State your nationality if you have guts... As for the football "scandal" sweeping my country, at least we have the courage to clean our house, unlike other countries where corruption is rampant but kept silent.

The England team comprises of top players from various English Premier League Clubs. Put the highest paid soccer players together and you can guess what happens. Every single one of them will want to stand out and they don't really bother about the World Cup, do they? Their clubs pay them better than their country.

Remember 1982? We did not play well then suddenly in the quarter finals a man called Paolo Rossi exploded! The rest is history. Trust me, don't underestimate us. Beside I have already called Sepp and made him an offer he cannot refuse....

LOL, Don!! You love your football alright. I remember 1982 for sure. Everybody blasted the Italians for playing too much of that ultra-defensive/lockdown type football. And as you have pointed out, Rossi suddenly found a younger man's legs and did his thing.
That was a damn good final because the '82 Brazilian team with the likes of Socrates, Falcao etc were expected to doggy bag the cup and samba home. Didn't happen.
I love the World Cup for the sheer drama. No other sport or event generates this sort of passion globally.

i'm not sure if germany's defence can cope with the argentinians who have amazing players in every position.
ukraine is a one man team. the italians will know how to handle shevchenko.
although portugal is missing some players through suspensions and injuries, england doesn't have the same amount of tremendous self-belief as the portuguese.
spain may have lost out to france in terms of experience, but this cannot be said of brazil as well. brazil is just in a class of its own. player to player, defence to offence, offence to defence, brazil just eclipse france in every department.
