So a few days before kick off.
I do not think Brasil will win, in spite of their talents, nor Argentina. Historically Europe has never really favoured the latin americans.
Instead I think it will be between France, Germany, Italy and England.
what are your thoughts?

Or then some underdog. Some African country, to bring a bit of color to the world cup!

I'd wait until the 2nd round picture is clearer. Pre-WC form means nothing. I wouldn't discount the Germans, as boring as they are. They can grind out a win as good as anyone.

Three Dutch players just got injured, a few days before the start of the world cup. How do you write stupid in Dutch? Holland sustained three injuries during their 1-1 friendly with Australia on Sunday with Wesley Sneijder's ankle knock considered to be most serious.
Philip Cocu (thigh) and Giovanni van Bronckhorst (ankle) also picked up injuries in a bad tempered game.
Australia's Luke Wilkshire was sent off for his challenge on Van Bronckhorst which left the Dutchman nursing heavy bruising to his foot.
"I do not think he wanted to go for the ball," Van Bronckhorst said.
"Luckily for me, the injury is not too bad but if it had have been, I would have missed the World Cup and, in a game like this, I don't think it would have been worth it.
"We knew Australia were a physical team. It is one of their strengths. But I just felt some of their challenges were too hard. After all, we are only one week away from a World Cup."
But while Van Bronckhorst is confident he will shake off his knock in time for the start of the World Cup, there is a doubt surrounding Sneijder's chances.
Dutch coach Marco van Basten said: "Sneijder is limping and his ankle is strapped up.
"We'll have to wait 24 hours to find out how serious it is. We have to wait and see how it develops." |

Paraguay- England: English should be worried. I have seen the "guaranies" play in Brasil and Paraguay and they are fast. They also play a hard football. Cardozo, Santa Cruz are very good players and the one to watch.
Anyway , ADELANTE PARAGUAY! ;D

i think one of the countries that has never won it or has not won it for a looong time will nick it. these days, fortune seems to favour the underdogs. they have as much chance as anybody.

The adventure begins: FORZA ITALIA!!!!!! I read somewhere that Italian men were mostly mama's boys. Most of them unmarried ones still live with their mothers. That would go a long way in explaining why they look like girls. Hey these sissies look like they be more comfortable carrying handbags in the photo. Can their opponents even mess up their hair without them diving and screaming in pain? Will Totti ever stop spitting at other men and starting fighting like a real man? ciao, bella. |

Italian football bores me. Serie A matches are probably only a bit more colourful than Bundesliga matches. Actually, one team that has slipped under the radar almost like a stealth bomber is the USA. I do think they are a dark horse in this tournament.

Andrea Pirlo is one of my favourite players! I wish they will start him in a midfield of Gattuso and Totti in a 4-3-2-1. Gattuso as a physical anchor supporting deep-lying Pirlo who will unlock opponents' defensive midfield, then Totti can finish up the job by flicking over the defence to Toni to score. Alas, Gattuso is injured and may have to play Pirlo as a lone defensive midfielder. I am afraid he is too fragile to take that role alone. Even in Milan he needs Gattuso and Seedorf to back him up physically, so that he can create.
I think Pirlo is the most important pivotal key to the Italian midfield.
